Republicans will rally for Tom Tancredo in Aurora on Saturday
A "Tancredo Republican Round-up" will be held for American Constitution Republican Party gubernatorial candidate, Tom Tancredo, between 4 an 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 16. The rally will be at the Stampede Country Dance Hall, 2430 S. Havana in Aurora. Many current and retired elected Republicans will attend. They include Mike Coffman, Bob Beauprez, Marilyn Musgrave, Bob Schaffer, 18th Judicial District DA Carol Chambers, Greg Brophy, Ted Harvey, Shawn Mitchell, Josh Penry, Cheri Gerou, Kent Lambert, Marsha Looper and Spencer Swalm. Others expected to attend include Michael Brown, Jon Caldera, Dan Caplis, Michelle Malkin and Mike Rosen. I'll be the guy with a vest, hiking hat and my new camcorder. $10 donation will be payable at the door. Everyone's invited.
Denver Post endorses Michael Bennet for Senate
The Denver Post has endorsed appointed Obama Democrat Sen. Michael Bennet over Republican Ken Buck. This endorsement is no surprise even though the Post has disagreed with Bennet on union card check, which he will vote for, and his rubber stamp votes for the failed $780 billion stimulus bill and the nationalization of health insurance and health care in ObamaCare. Bennet also is strongly anti-Colorado on energy, climate change and taxes. What cost Buck the endorsement? I'm guessing social issues, illegal immigration and Buck's promise to never vote for a tax increase were the deal killers for the Post's CEO, Dean Singleton. Because this is a close race, the Post's endorsement will help Bennet. But because of the anti-Obama tide and Bennet's voting record, Buck still has a chance to win, especially if Democrats don't turnout as Republicans will.

Why illegal immigration and legal immigration won’t make a dent in the number of poor in the world
America accepts about a million legal immigrants a year. These are the more educated and energetic people. If they stayed home or went to poorer countries, they could help bring more people out of poverty. But, instead they come to America and compete with our better educated and less educated folks for jobs, government services and other resources. This clip makes the point:
John Salazar is a Nancy Pelosi Democrat; voted for ObamaCare, spending, taxes
John Salazar (CD-3), like Ed Perlmutter (CD-7) and Betsy Markey (CD-4), is a Nancy Pelosi Democrat. Like appointed Obama Democrat Sen. Michael Bennet, Salazar has represented Pelosi and Obama in Washington, not Colorado. Thus, the Denver Post's endorsement of Salazar over Republican Scott Tipton is hard to understand. Michael Bennet cast winning votes against Colorado on stimulus, ObamaCare, tax increases
The National Republican Senate Committee's newest ad says that appointed Obama Democrat Michael Bennet, who is a rubber stamp for Nancy Pelosi and President Obama's spend and tax agendas, cast the deciding votes against Colorado on the stimulus bill, ObamaCare, tax increases and other legislation.

Gov. Dick Lamm: Tom Tancredo put ‘more things of substance’ on the table
If former Colorado Democrat Governor Dick Lamm didn't declare American Constitution/Republican Party Gubernatorial candidate Tom Tancredo, the winner of tonight's joint appearances by Tancredo, John Hickenlooper (D) and Dan Maes (R), he and a vocal crowd came as close to crowning Tancredo the best performer of the night as they could.

GOP candidates are averting appearances with ethically-challenged Dan Maes
When the chairman of the Republican National Committee comes to town in a bright red "Fire Pelosi" bus, you'd think every GOP candidate and leader in the state would turn out. Only Dan Maes and a few underfunded candidates did. With most Republicans supporting Tom Tancredo or not committing to Maes or Tancredo, the state's Republican chairman, Dick Wadhams, U.S. Senate candidate and any GOP Congressional candidates who think they have a chance of winning in November stayed away from the "Fire Pelosi" event, which was held in the party's Greenwood Village headquarters "Victory" call center. Nobody wants to be associated with Dan Maes even if it means disrespecting the national chairman, Michael Steele. Indeed, Steele himself is controversial and seems to be working as hard to keep his job next January as to help elect Republicans. About 150 GOP activists showed up to hear Steele in Greenwood Village and another 100 reportedly attended his event in Fort Collins where Maes' presence also kept many GOP and candidates leaders away.

Tom Tancredo ‘wowed the room’; his path to victory
Chuck Plunkett, an editorial writer for the Denver Post, reports that Tom Tancredo is winning over libertarians and conservatives who have been reluctant to support him. At a Liberty Movement meeting, Tancredo "wowed the room," Plunkett reports. Bay Buchanan, Tancredo's campaign manager, told Plunkett that if Dan Maes can be held to 12% or 13% of the votes and if Tancredo can raise enough money, Tancredo has a chance to beat "Governor-elect" John Hickenlooper. Plunkett's not totally convinced, but he is starting to see that Tancredo knows Colorado and is convincing some pretty angry voters that he would make a fine governor: LINK: Tancredo's unlikely path to victory, by Chuck Plunkett.

With Colorado facing $1 billion budget deficit next year, Amendments 60 and 61, Prop. 101 not smart
Colorado is facing a $1 billion budget deficit in fiscal year 2012, and that makes the tax-cutting Amendments 60 and 61 and Proposition 101 look unwise. Of course, contractors who slop at the pork trough of Colorado taxpayers are against the “Ugly three” and have raised millions for the fight to keep Colorado taxes high and themselves in business. I continue to have mixed feelings about these ballot initiatives. Colorado should restructure its laws and regulations to make government more cost effective and affordable under the economic conditions that we’ll be living with. But these initiatives seem to be asking for too much change too quickly, and they probably should go down to defeat. This ad makes the case for maintaining bloated government:

John Hicklenlooper 46%, Tom Tancredo 25%, Dan Maes 21% and sinking like a rock
The campaign for governor of Colorado has barely begun and already, John Hickenlooper and Tom Tancredo are surging in the polls while the ethically challenged Republican, Dan Maes, is sinking like a rock. It will get worse for Maes as Tancredo’s new ad that attacks Maes’ lack of integrity (see below) sinks in with voters.
Indeed, Republican Party leaders are worried that Dan Maes will get less than 10% of the vote and relegate the GOP to minor party status under the state’s laws. In the latest Rasmussen Reports Poll, Hick gains 10 percentage points to 46%, while Tancredo climbs to 25% from 14% and Maes sinks to 21% from 24% two weeks ago. Since July 13 when I called on Maes to drop out of the gubernatorial contest, I’ve been predicting that he would get 5% to 10% of the vote in a three-way race. Given the support Maes is getting from Dan Maes Republican hacks and groupies, I think he could get 10% to 15% of the votes now. As shown below, Tancredo’s new ad, which calls Maes a con man and emphasizes Tancredo’s integrity gives voters good reasons to not support Maes. That means Governor-elect Hickenlooper still is the big favorite in the race for Colorado governor. LINK: Election 2010: Colorado Governor, by Rasmussen Reports.
