Denver Post endorses Jane Norton, Michael Bennet
Since the demise of the Rocky Mountain News, the editorial pages of the liberal Denver Post have become more centrist and less hard core progressive and liberal. Therefore,
the Post’s endorsement of Jane Norton for the Republican’s nomination for the U.S. Senate will carry more weight with Republicans this year that it may have in previous years. That the Post also endorsed appointed Obama Democrat Sen. Michael Bennet over an even more hard left Andrew Romanoff also will have a lot of influence on Democratic Party primary voters.
The Post interviewed Norton and her opponent, Ken Buck. The editorial board was impressed with Norton’s willingness to make tough calls and discuss health care reform and other issues in detail. The editorial writers, columnists, editor and publisher were not impressed with Buck’s inability to discuss the issues or make tough calls. They also expressed concern about Buck’s ethics and integrity, given his record as a federal attorney and prosecutor.
Voters should read the editorials for themselves. Norton’ and Bennet’s supporters will love them. Buck’s and Romanoff’s won’t.
I’m neutral.
