CNN poll of likely voters: John Hickenlooper 47%, Tom Tancredo 29%, Dan Maes 21%
A poll of likely voters conducted for CNN shows that some 21% of likely voters will vote their straight party tickets regardless of whether a candidate is unethical and incompetent. Thus, Dan Maes, the Republican candidate who has been discredited in so many ways that most party leaders are not supporting him, is still backed by 21% of likely voters. These are the same folks who complain about corrupt politicians. Or maybe they're the 21% of likely voters who don't think Maes is ethically challenged or that he's incompetent. That's an even more discouraging picture of the Colorado electorate—they don't know right from wrong or incompetent from competent. One can only wonder whether folks who still support Maes are themselves ethically challenged or incompetent. The CNN poll conducted between Sept. 17 and 21 also shows that 47% of likely voters support Governor-elect John Hickenlooper and 29% support Tom Tancredo. Soon Hickenlooper and Tancredo will be flooding the airwaves with their ads, but it's hard to see how advertising will change the likely outcome in this election. LINK: CNN poll results.
