Dick Wadhams disowns Dan Maes
In response to Dan Maes’ decision to get revenge on Colorado Republicans who refuse to back him because of his ethical problems and doubts about his competency, Dick Wadhams, chairman of the Colorado Republican Party, has disowned his gubernatorial candidate. Wadhams says that while a fluke may elect Governor-elect Obama Democrat John Hickenlooper, Ken Buck will win the U.S. Senate seat held by appointed Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Washington, DC), and Republicans will retake the Colorado legislature. Maes decided to stay in the gubernatorial race because he knows that if Republicans don’t back him, the GOP won’t have a viable candidate as he fades into obscurity. And, like Wadhams, he thinks Hickenlooper will beat conservative Tom Tancredo easily. That will be Maes’ revenge. Wadhams’ statement is here.
