Ethics: Merck and Schering-Plough blew it
Over the last five years, I’ve posted 41 times about the ethical lapses of business executives, frequently about the ethics of those who run so-called “ethical drug” makers. Merck and Schering-Pough are under fire for delaying the release of results of clinical trials on their popular heart drugs. The companies are defending their actions, but politicians don’t seem to believe them.
How can regulators deal with such unethical behavior, and why don’t corporate boards fire executives who let their companies’ names and reputations be destroyed in the name of winning big bonuses?
