Gov. Dick Lamm: Tom Tancredo put ‘more things of substance’ on the table
If former Colorado Democrat Governor Dick Lamm didn't declare American Constitution/Republican Party Gubernatorial candidate Tom Tancredo, the winner of tonight's joint appearances by Tancredo, John Hickenlooper (D) and Dan Maes (R), he and a vocal crowd came as close to crowning Tancredo the best performer of the night as they could.
At the end of Tancredo's 20-minute interview with Lamm and former Governor Bill Owens, Lamm told Tancredo, "I have to say that you put more things of substance on the table, and I admire that." Lamm joined the crowd of some 400 business leaders in applauding Tancredo. Indeed, Tancredo got more cheers and applause from the business leaders than either Hickenlooper or Maes. The crowd clearly was mostly Republicans and Tancredo backers. While Maes and Hickenlooper tried to dodge questions, Tancredo answered with specifics, promised leadership and warned that the next governor will have to have "guts."
After the Elevate Colorado event at the Glendale Event Center, Lamm told Steven K. Paulson of the AP that he supports Hickenlooper.
Lamm and Owens interviewed Maes, Hickenlooper and Tancredo for 20 minutes each in that order at the Elevate Colorado Candidates Forum at the Events Center in Glendale, CO.
