More Colorado registered Republicans are active than registered Democrats

In his latest excellent essay on Colorado politics, Night Twister, a member of the Rocky Mountain Alliance 2.0, points out that while there are more registered Democrats than Republicans in the state, registered Republicans vote more regularly, which is what counts. Last year, President Obama brought out the Democrat vote. In 2010, he’ll bring out the Republican vote. This assumes, of course, that GOP candidates and the state party will succeed in recruiting stronger volunteer organizations than the Democrats. To do that, the party needs smart, open and attractive candidates and, to say the least, money. Right now, it seems, Democrats lead in fundraising and organization while Republicans have the strongest candidates.
