Nancy Doty says 15 drop-off locations for mail ballots are enough for Arapahoe County
Arapahoe County will fight the state of Colorado in court over its unfunded mandate that the county pay for allowing voters to drop off their mail ballots at 200 polling places instead of at the 15 locations that it has used in the primary and other elections, the county’s clerk and recorder, Nancy Doty today told the Arapahoe Republican Mens [and women’s] Club breakfast. Doty said that she wants to contain election costs while at the same time giving voters plenty of convenient locations where they can drop off their ballots if they don’t want to mail them. She said that it would be too expensive to give voters envelopes with pre-paid postage and that doing so wouldn’t increase voter turn out.
This is the first movie I’ve ever made and uploaded to YouTube. Have to figure out how to get the other 4 unrelated videos out of the post.

Why doesn’t the club simply change the name to the Arapahoe County Republican Club? Why do they entitle it incorrectly? Easy enough to change. Given that, it is insulting to women.
At the same time, your going out of your way to include us is heart warming, and I mean that. It speaks well of you, Don.

The guy who puts up the banner “Arapahoe Republicans” has been trying to get the name changed for a long time. And I agree that it should be changed, but a few old timers like the name, and they prevail. We have enough controversy without making a name change our top issue this year.

When I moved to the state from CA, I was shocked to see women of my age group (now early ‘50s) were a generation behind, at least. Maybe two. I am glad we have such an avid feminist in you. We need men out there or we lose credibility.
Posted by Laura Victoria on 09/09/2010 at 01:50 PMWell, Laura, I’m married to a feminist who’s broken a lot of glass ceilings in her days.
