Party line vote gets Medicare drug benefit bill through Ways & Means

After a partisan debate on the House Ways & Means Committee, the House panel approved a Medicare drug benefit bill that Democrat opponent Charles Rangel charged “will change Medicare as we’ve known it.”

After a partisan debate on the House Ways & Means Committee, the House panel approved a Medicare drug benefit bill that Democrat opponent Charles Rangel charged “will change Medicare as we’ve known it.”

With such strong opposition from key House Democrats, will Senate Democrats continue to support the bill or find a way out? The Washington Post quotes a Senate staffer who predicts the bill could get 85 Senate votes.
