Will Mike Coffman, Doug Lamborn oppose defense spending cuts?
Colorado's two senior Republican members of the U.S. House, Doug Lamborn (CD-5) and Mike Coffman (CD-6), are working to build careers as military and national security specialists, but they also claim to be small government Republicans who want to balance the budget. Will they go along with Sen.-elect Rand Paul (R-KY) and the Obama Administration as they look for ways to cut Defense Dept. spending? Or will they defend the special interests in the industrial military complex who they seem to be representing in Congress? Will they try to cut everything but defense while others try to cut defense spending but nothing else? Can they get away with that strategy in a redistricted Colorado in 2012? Are Lamborn and Coffman tea party Republicans or Tom DeLay Republicans? Stay tuned.
