Is US bullying Toyota on recall?

I wasn’t the only one wondering whether President Obama’s administration was politicizing the Toyota recall the way it politicizes everything else in an effort to help its UAW and other union campaign contributors and Goverment Motors. There is a big effort to show that that’s not the case, and it probably didn’t start out that way, but I’m still wondering. Clearly, Toyota hasn’‘t helped its reputation with the way it has handed its problem, which it says first appeared in Europe early last year.

Is Obama trying to help Government Motors by forcing Toyota to stop selling most of its cars? The Business Word, 2.1.2010.

Is U.S. Toyota on recall? By Mira Oberman. AFP, 2.5.2010.
