Kevin Lundberg nominated Dan Maes at GOP state assembly; he and 4 others endorse Tom Tancredo

Kevin Lundberg, one of the last diehard supporters of Dan Maes, the Republican candidate for governor of Colorado, has joined four other state legislators in endorsing Tom Tancredo for governor. With 69% of Republicans supporting Tancredo instead of Maes because they know Maes is unfit to be governor or to represent the GOP, Maes will be lucky to get 7% to 9% of the votes Nov. 2. Maes is already down to 10% and sinking while Tancredo is at 40% and surging. Release is below the jump.

Kevin Lundberg Endorses Tancredo for Governor
Joins Other Statehouse Republicans in Supporting Tancredo

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, COState Senator Kevin Lundberg, R-Berthoud, one of Dan Maes’ last remaining supporters, today endorsed Tom Tancredo for Governor.

“Over his 35 years of public service to the people of Colorado Tom has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to life and liberty,” said Lundberg. “I am confident he will bring that same commitment to the Colorado governor's office.”

Lundberg nominated Maes at the GOP State Assembly this year and campaigned for him for months. Lundberg was one of three state legislators to endorse Maes, along with Colorado Springs state Representative Kent Lambert, who also withdrew his support for the scandal-plagued Maes this month. Maes has been dogged by ethical questions, repeated campaign finance violations, and numerous reports of resume-padding.

“Today I am urging voters to support Tom Tancredo for governor of Colorado,” said Lundberg. "This race is razor thin, and at this point a vote for Dan Maes is a vote for Hickenlooper."

Four other Republican state legislators joined Lundberg in supporting Tom Tancredo. State Senator Keith King and state Representative Larry Liston of Colorado Springs, state Senator Scott Renfroe of Greeley, and state Representative B.J. Nikkel of Loveland all endorsed Tancredo today.

Tancredo has also been endorsed by a number of other prominent Republican leaders, including Congressman Mike Coffman, former Congressmen Joel HefleyBob Schaffer, and Bob Beauprez, state Senator and former Senate Minority Leader Josh Penry, Senate Minority Leader Mike Kopp, Assistant Senate Minority Leader Greg Brophystate Senators Ted Harvey and Shawn Mitchellstate Representatives Kent Lambert, Cheri Gerou, Marsha LooperSpencer Swalm, and Cindy Acree, and dozens of other current and former elected officials and grassroots activists.
