Obama Democrat Michael Bennet really supports more stimulus spending

Eli Stokols takes a closer look at appointed Obama Democrat Sen. Michael Bennet’s (D-Washington, DC) headline-grabbing assertion that he wouldn’t vote for President Obama’s proposal to spend another $50 billion on Stimulus iI. But it was all double talk designed to mislead Colorado’s voters. Stokols’ impact graphs:

But, according to the senator’s own staff, the headline may not be completely true.

“I will not support additional spending in a second stimulus package,” began Bennet’s carefully-crafted statement. “Any new transportation initiatives can be funded through the Recovery Act, which still contains unused funds. Public-private partnerships that improve our infrastructure are a good idea, but must be paid for, should not add a dime to the deficit, and should be covered by unused Recovery Act dollars. We must make hard choices to significantly reduce the deficit.”

Bennet’s campaign had no problems with the Post’s headline which characterized him as opposing Obama’s new infrastructure plan.

Does Bennet really oppose Obama’s new plan? By Eli Stokols.
